Wellington, New Zealand’s capital, is located near the southernmost point of the North Island on the Cook Strait. The iconic red Wellington Cable Car departs from Lambton Quay for the Wellington Botanic Gardens. The nickname “Windy Wellington” comes from the strong winds that blow through the Cook Strait.
