The Netherlands is a country in northwest. Europe known for its flat landscape of canals, tulip fields, windmills, and cycling paths. The Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and the house where Jewish diarist Anne Frank hid during WWII are all located in Amsterdam, the capital. From the city’s 17th-century “Golden Age,” canalside mansions and a trove of works by artists such as Rembrandt and Vermeer remain.
