Abaya / Burqa

An abaya / burqa is a type of garment worn by women all over the world. It’s long-sleeved, black color, and floor-length. When a lady leaves the house, she wears the abaya. It is designed to be free and flowing, hiding the body’s “curves”.

The abaya / burqa may slip over the chest, but it will usually open in the front and be closed with snaps, zippers, or layers that overlap. The sleeves are made of the same fabric as the body and are not sewn on individually. The abaya can be worn with other clothing, such as a scarf to cover one’s hair.

Both men and women wear abayas. but the burqa is worn only women, Burqa is an Arabic term for a loose-fitting garment that covers the head, face, and body, as well as the eyes sometimes, but not always.
